The round up for 20 to 26 July 2014.

There are no beatifications scheduled for this week.

Sunday 20 July, the memorial of the Martyrs of Barcelona.  Of these, two were American citizens who had worked in the American Southwest, Bb Lluc of Saint Joseph and Edward of the Child Jesus.  They were beatified in 2007.

Also 20 July, of interest in Mexico, the repose of the Venerable Servant of God Gregorio Lopez.

Monday 21 July, I have nothing.

Tuesday 22 July, the memorial of Blessed Maria Ines Teresa of the Blessed Sacrament.  A Mexican sister with the Poor Clare Missionary Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, she spent the years 1926 to 1931 in exile in Los Angeles due to the persecutions in Mexico.  She was beatified in 2012.

Also 22 July, in 1814 in Philadelphia, the repose of Michael Francis Egan.  A Franciscan priest from Ireland, he was the first Bishop of Philadelphia.  I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.

Wednesday 23 July, I have nothing.

Thursday 24 July, of interest to the Breton, in 1944 in La Brosse-Montceaux, the death of Joachim Nio.  A priest with the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, he was martyred with four companions by the Nazis.  I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.

Also 24 July, of interest to some unrecognized Orthodox groups, the repose of S Aftimios Ofiesh, founder of the American Orthodox Catholic Church.

Friday 25 July, of interest in Mexico, the martyrdom in Spain of Bl Dionisio of Saint Barnabas.

Also 25 July, also of interest in Mexico, the memorial of Bl Dario Acosta Zurita.

Saturday 26 July, in 1731 in New Mexico, the memory of the death of Domingo de Saraoz.  He was martyred due to animosity of the local religious authorities.  I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.

Also 26 July, in 1863 in Huntsville, Texas, the repose of Sam Houston.  Though he was not born nor did he die a Catholic, he was a Catholic for a significant portion of his adult life, including the period he was President of Texas, the only President of that Republic to be Catholic.  There is no cause for his canonization.

Also 26 July, of particular interest in Brittany, the feast of Saint Anne, mother of Mary and patron of Brittany.

Also 26 July, of interest to the Orthodox, the repose and feast of S Jacob of Alaska.  He was glorified in 1994.
