Wednesday 27 August, in 1957 in Italy, the repose of the Servant of God Teresa Fardella di Blasi. Born in New York, she was only here two years before returning with her family to their native Italy. She would grow up to found the Poor Daughters of the Crowned Virgin and to serve the poor. Her cause has been in Rome since 2010.
Also 27 August, in 2010 in Lima, Peru, the death of Linan Ruiz Morales. A Franciscan priest working with the poor in Peru, he was killed in a robbery gone bad. I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.
Also 27 August, in 1889 in Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, the repose of Euphrasie Hinkle. A convert, she joined the house founded by S Mother Theodore, becoming Mother Superior, and was responsible for aiding in its spread across the country. I am not aware of a cause for her canonization.

Friday 29 August, of interest to the Breton, the feast of S Marie of the Cross. Born Jeanne Jugan in Brittany, she took a very direct hand in aiding the poor, especially the abandoned elderly, in an era of rapid industrialization and rampant poverty. She was canonized in 2009.
Saturday 30 August, of interest in Brazil, the memorial of the Blessed Hubertus van Lieshout.
