Sunday 26 April, in Canada, will be the first beatification of the year, that of Bl Marie-Elisabeth Turgeon, nineteenth century Canadian religious and foundress.  Saturday 2 May, in Turin, will be the beatification of Bl Luigi of the Consolata Bordino, twentieth century Italian religious brother.

Sunday 26 April, of particular interest in Canada, the feast of Mary under the title Our Lady of Good Counsel.

Monday 27 April, I have nothing.

Tuesday 28 April, in 2010 in Venezuela, the death of Esteban Robert Wood.  A secular priest from the state of Washington, he was working in Venezuela when he was stabbed to death in a robbery gone bad.  I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.

Also 28 April, of interest to the Breton, the feast of S Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort.  A Breton priest, he is best known for his Marian devotion and for helping the religious revival in Brittany.  He was canonized in 1947.

Also 28 April, of particular interest in Canada, the repose of the Venerable Servant of God Adolphe Chatillon.

Also 28 April, of interest in Paraguay, the repose of the Venerable Servant of God Maria Guggiari Echeverria.

Also 28 April, of particular interest in Oceania, the feast of S Pierre-Louis-Marie Chanel.

Wednesday 29 April, on Padre Island, Texas, in 1553, the deaths of Diego de la Cruz, Hernando Mendez, Juan Ferrer, and Juan de Mena.  Dominicans — the first three priests and the last a brother — they died as the result of a shipwreck off the coast of Texas on their way to the missions.  I am not aware of a cause for their canonization.

Also 29 April, in 1999 in El Salvador, the repose of Ron Hennessey.  A Maryknoll priest and brother to two nuns, he was known for his activism and his opposition to American actions in Central America.  I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.

Also 29 April, of interest in Canada, the repose of the Venerable Servant of God Elisabeth Bergeron.

Thursday 30 April, of interest in Canada, the feast of S Marie Guyart Martin, in religion S Marie of the Incarnation.

Friday 1 May, of interest to the Breton, the feast of S Brioc, one of the Founders of Brittany.

Saturday 2 May, I have nothing.
