Sunday 7 June, in 1918 in Denver, the repose of the Servant of God Julia Greeley. Born a slave in the antebellum South, she came north after the war, converted to the Faith, and became known for her piety and generosity. Her cause has been very recently opened.
Also 7 June, of interest to the Orthodox, the Synaxis of the Saints of North America (Ss Herman, Juvenal, Peter, Innocent, Jacob, Alexis, Tikhon, Raphael, John Kochurov, and Alexander Hotovitzky.)
Monday 8 June, in 1960 in Naples, the repose of the Servant of God Antonietta Giugliano. Though she was born in New York City, she spent the majority of her life in Italy. She is best known for cofounding the Little Servants of Christ the King. The diocesan phase of her cause closed in 2013.
Tuesday 9 June, in 1959 in Illinois, the repose of Mary Mediatrix. Born Frances Hennessey, she was a religious with the Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary and a reputed mystic. I am not aware of a cause for her canonization, though some support for it exists.
Also 9 June, of interest to the Breton, in 1794 in Paris the killing of the Servant of God Francois-Geroges Cormaux. A secular priest from Brittany, he was executed by the Revolutionary Tribunal. The diocesan phase of his martyrdom cause, with thirty-seven others, closed in 1924.
Also 9 June, also of interest to the Breton, in 1950 in Nantes the repose of Gabrielle Bossis. A Breton laywoman and mystic, no cause has been officially opened, but there is interest in doing so.
Also 9 June, of interest in Brazil, the feast of S Jose de Anchieta.
Wednesday 10 June, in Altoona in 1957, the repose of Richard Guilfoyle. He was the third Bishop of Altoona, serving from 1936 to 1957. I am not aware of a cause for his canonization.
Also 10 June, in 2002 in Conception, Missouri, the killing of Damien Larson and Philip Shuster. Benedictines — the first a brother and the second a priest — they were shot when a man, for reasons still unknown, entered their abbey and began firing. I am not aware of a cause for their canonization.
Also 10 June, of interest to Monarchists, White Rose Day, celebrating the birth of King James III and the royalist cause.
Thursday 11 June, in 2014 in Phoenix, the killing of Kenneth Walker. A priest with the FSSP, he was shot in an alleged robbery gone bad. I am not aware of an interest in his canonization.
Also 11 June, of interest in Mexico, the repose of the Venerable Servant of God Maria Tomelin del Campo.
Friday 12 June, of interest to the Orthodox, the repose in Boston in 1995 of Gerasimos (Papadopoulos) of Abydos. Served the Greek Orthodox Church in America from 1952 to 1995. Under consideration for glorification.
